LEADERSHIP DAY
On October 23, student leaders in 11th and 12th grades attended a leadership day hosted by JCC.  While there, they attended workshops by Playfair and presentations by famous people including Jeff Bauman (Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor), and rock & roll painter, David Garibaldi.

Setting Boundaries for Your Children
Connecting Lewis County is a publication from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County.   Youth are more likely to grow up healthy when school provides clear rules and consequences and learn better when school boundaries are clear and consistent, according to data collected by Search Institute. Talk with your students.  Questions you might ask include:
· Do you understand the school rules?  Why or why not?
· Do you feel consequences for breaking the rules are fair?  Why or why not?
· How would you make the rules clearer or easier to understand?
For many ideas to engage in healthy conversations with your children, go to pages 18-19 at this link.

Parent Portal Information
 eSD Parent Portal Access

Welcome to Eschool Data Parent Portal

As we welcome you to the “Nexgen Parent Portal” provided by E-School Data, we would like to call your attention to several important details.

The “Nexgen Parent Portal” is in its initial offering to schools in New York State this year. E-School Data continues to develop and improve their product every day based on feedback they receive from schools and parents. Coupled with this is the fact that the relationship between CCS and E-School Data is in its infancy. So we have a school that is new to a product paired with a company that is new to providing the service. As such, we are still learning each other’s needs and shortcomings. An advantage to this relationship is that, as E-School Data creates their product, they are extremely responsive to our personal requests.

Because of this, we would like to make sure you realize that as you use the Portal over the remainder of the year, things will change. You may see certain data tomorrow that was not available today. You may wish you could access certain things that are not yet available. Certain features may not be functional now that will be later. We are asking for your patience and understanding as we work through our “growing pains” together, with the knowledge that we will all see improvement as the year unfolds.

Thank you,

Nadine O'Shaughnessy
K-12 Principal
